Year 4 2024 - 2025
Welcome to Year 4!
I hope you have all had a wonderful summer, despite the weather and are ready for the new school year.
This half term we will start our English by reading ''Until I met Dudley' and follow on reading 'Varmints' and the 'Mermaid of Zennor'. We will read 'Butterfly Lion' by Michael Morpurgo as our first class novel.
We will jump straight back into our Maths lessons, with Place Value and Addition and Subtraction.
In Science we will be learning about how the digestive system works. In Geography we are learning all about the Rainforests of South America.
This year our class will be completing the 'Multiplication Times Table Check'. This is something all the Year 4 children in the country will be doing at the same time.
Our PE day is Monday, so make sure you come to school in your full PE kit, black shorts/ leggings/ tracksuit bottoms, your house colour PE top and a school hoody/ cardigan/ jumper. Sensible trainers are important to avoid injuries.
Our homework will be given out on a Friday and needs to be returned the following Friday please. You will have homework for spellings and times tables which can be accessed online and to be done daily. A few minutes a day will greatly increase your knowledge. We will also send home paper copies of the spellings. Daily reading is to be done and you can do this from your school reading books.
If you need any help with anything please do not hesitate to ask any of the adults in our class.
Mrs Davison, Miss Johnson and Mrs Edinborough
